Melancholy Is Here - Acrostic

by Kakera   Jun 22, 2014

2014

Melancholy is for those of us who know that
Endings are inevitably drawing closer,
Lingering in the shadows of our thoughts seeking
Answers where there are none to be found;
Never have I not loved the escapism
Carved on my ruthless teenage dreams,
Heavenly by their own merits;
Outsiders, outcasts, we are the abandoned youth
Loveless and without peace or rest, we
Yearn for escape but find only self-betrayal

In rebellion we mourn our past selves, with
Snow falling like dust on our cold tombstones

Here are we indeed - the abandoned youth,
Eternally in conflict with our outward masks:
Rapture is for the weak and weary, so
Endlessly we jump in and out of graves instead

    Goosebumps,a smile of understanding, heart skipped several beats and the tears ran down my eyes, had to run to the loo to get some tissue to dry my eyes.that's how intensely this poem affected me!!!I have no words, I'm still absorbing the intensity of my reaction to this poem, I'll comment when I'm in a better frame of emotional wellbeing.

      Thank you, Andrea! Acrostics turned out to be really fun, I will probably play around with them in the future as well, trying to form more complex ones with time. They actually end up working really good with my natural style of unformed writing, flowing completely on its own without having to stop and think about it. Hope that's how other formed styles will end up with time. It also ended up being a perfect release for my hatred of syllable counting now as well, LOL. <3
