Singing Memories

by Jack Nightengale   Jul 29, 2014

I can't hear my music, someone turn it up.
Add a little bass, and pour some more tequila in my cup.
Take all the extra stuff, I'll take it straight,
I'm about to kill this rap and loop the track like a figure eight.

In the studio the lights are burning and the mic is on,
Memories in my head of things I don't get,
Constantly drinking until the memories are gone,
Yet there are still things on my mind that I regret!

Words left unsaid but, others that was said that I truly meant,
On the phone with you late in the night until you went to bed,
All those moments passed with the times unspent,
Still your image is beard deep in the brain that stuck inside my head.

Why is it so hard for me to let go of the past and all its pain,
I just want to take a drill to my skull until I hit my brain,
Even though we would argue, fight, and call each other out our name,
I understand now that in reality I was the one to blame.

I was like the Joker and you were my Harley Quinn,
The only one I opened my doors for and let walk in,
Its over now and you're gone but, all I said was true,
Regardless of my drinking, forever will I love you.

I never understood why you hated writing love poems so much, your truly great at them.

The Joker and Harley Quinn make quite a pair. This was again, simple yet in a way it wasn't. The flow was great and again reading it aloud made it even better. Good job.

    I adore this poem.

The rhyme is amazing and the flow is fantastic. And I love the message behind it and the raw honesty and it makes a really good rap (even better that it is really easy to pick up on.)

    Another good write.
