Avalanche

by Jenni Marie   Aug 7, 2014

You've seen me at my worst,
still you loved and believed in
me. Seen me void of makeup,
in sweats and a hoodie-still
you kissed my lips as you
whispered that I was beautiful.

Your arms have comforted me
as tears streamed down my face,
Hiccuping into your shoulders-
thought to myself you shouldn't
let him see you like this; like you
are weak.

Yet; you never viewed
me as weak-

even in my weakest moments.

Walls caved in like an avalanche,
you didn't need any tools to break
through them, just being yourself
was more than enough and I've
spent twenty six years refusing to
believe every compliment that was
thrown my way; but the moment you
hand me one, I clutch it, believing it
to be true, because I know that

-you believe everything
that you say to me.

You've definitely got yourself a gem and I couldn't be more happy for you. I'm glad you have someone who makes you feel special and makes you realize how beautiful you are inside & out. I liked the avalanche metaphor, it was something fresh & new.. not entirely sure of it being the title, since it doesn't have that 'soft' touch to it, seeing as 75% percent of the poem talks about the perseverance of love and life, but in the end - it is just a title & really this 'avalanche' was the beginning of what turned out to be something wonderful. Sometimes someone has to go through the worst of times in order to receive the best. Love you! I'm happy that you're happy. It makes me smile :)
