Sometimes We Need A Reminder Of Why We Love

by Jenni Marie   Aug 9, 2014

Sometimes we forget the reasons
why we were drawn to each other-
criticize, huffing, complaining, and
nit-picking every little manner that
irritates us even slightly.

Letting life get in the way, the
hum-drum of daily living wear
us down; choosing to unload
and vent on each other instead
of supporting and dusting each
other down- instead of leaning
on each other and helping
the other to stand.

Sometimes, we forget how to be
compassionate, or kind, caring and
giving-instead giving in to short
tempers, selfishness, carelessness,
with callous statements made and
cruel words uttered in the heat of
the moment- forgetting yet again
that hatred breeds hatred,

forgetting how to not only love
each other, but how to {show} it.

That's not how I wish to be, instead I
wish for you to be enthusiatic about
coming home, passionate about relaying
your day to me and feeling secure
wrapped within my arms...No, I don't
wish to fall into the trap of my lover
feeling unappreicated and resented-
I wish for him to feel welcomed and
wanted, needed and supported.

-I wish to make you happy.

I agree with Britt, and this is truly a beautiful piece and reminder! I nodded my head at the "hatred breeds hatred" part, as well as how easy it is, with any relationship, to let anger or selfishness control.... we forget the simple things we do for each other or the why's. Wonderful ending as well, very sweet and sincere!
