Wowow. The first thing I must point out is you can't tell who wrote which stanza, it seems like you wrote this as one person. The imagery here is stunning. Especially in the first stanza. The stanzas to me connect very well to tell a story. I think leading off and using the word "darkness" sets up the poems message. There is sadness within the nature of the poem. It seems like the angel has fallen from heaven and is struggling to find happiness. And nature is dying because of her or she is dying because of nature. It seems like toward the end there was love, or this person wanted to be loved by a heaven. So they have no more pain. Anyways I loved this poem. I am glad this was nominated because I believe this could win. Breathtaking and stunning work you two. I bow my head to you.

Beautiful beyond words... grateful you could share this and this is inspiring to me, that two people from different cultures, across the world, can come together. It stresses our humanity, that desire for peace, that want to simply live in harmony, no matter the disputes. I think all of us get lost in the drama, violence, political side, that it is easy to forget our humanity and how we can still care for each other, pray for each other, no matter if it seems impossible.

Such love and friendship in your verses and they flowed beautifully! My favorite lines were the last ones, like a soft plea for that Heaven we may have lost faith in, for that glimpse of hope and that there is a purpose for this pain and darkness.

Ladies, this is nothing less than amazing and nothing less was expected. You both complement each other well with writing styles and the whole piece flowed exceptionally well.

The power, and depth and the emotion in this piece really stood out and it is definitely a piece deserving of the win it acquired.

Well done, hugs to you both xx

Rania and Andrea, this is such a great piece and very sad. I am glad it won the weekly and deserves to.

It is hard here in the west just being an observer of so many tragic events. We have mixed feelings of helplessness and relief.

We are helpless in the fact that we can only watch and hope that those we have voted in can do something on our behalf.

Relief is the selfish emotion that creeps in when we realise how lucky we are to be able to live a normal life.
We hear and see people around us moan and whine about such trivial things that have gone wrong in their daily lives.

All I can do from this end is watch and share and discuss what is happening in Gaza and Iraq to name just two.
I don't pray, but I believe in hope.

    Congrats to you both.

    Judging comment:

Compassion is what seeps from each line of this poem. The genuine love and friendship within both of your hearts is evident and inspiring. It's very true that we cannot imagine what another person experiences, even if we see it through media or other sources, we are not in the same country, walking on the same land. Both of you write with grace, sincerity, and beauty that we cannot give up on humanity, or what we may not understand or live through. I like how you include nature and paint a realistic atmosphere that helps the reader sense how violent and dark this land has become, no flowers growing or sun willing to shine. The imagery of the angels is almost spiritual, as well as the call for Heaven to be that much closer and real to those who live in darkness and dread. Beautiful piece, ladies! (4)
