Midnight

by Noah Richards   Aug 26, 2014

Midnight comes and we're on the roof
A starry night with a moon in youth
A cool breeze that comforts us in the night
Surrounded by the heavens natural light

A blanket of stars shine overhead
Each one seeming no different from the rest
Trees sway gently in the cold
While cars pass us by down below

Beautiful jewels floating in the sky
The stars stand still, frozen in time
Our field of view forms a vast shining arc
As the sky blesses with light in the dark

The calming silence soothes the night
Planes are mistaken for stars in flight
The midnight blue that engulfs the night sky
Matched by thin clouds with dark pink dye

Crickets chirp freely in the distance
Stars flying by, only for an instant
The shadows of houses stretch across the street
And fireflies gather to display their feat

Lampposts flicker their faint, yellow light
As the stars mimic and accomplish a stunning sight
A hint of dawn shone on the skies limits
As night and day blend their images

The stars dim and begin to retire
As the moon fades and grows tired
Daybreak engulfs the dark sky with light
Ending the remarkable sights of midnight
