The Sin Of Salvation

The Sin Of Salvation
By Mark Spencer

Among the faithful and behaved
Some claim they're cleaner once they're saved
Are they more righteous than before
It's a question we must explore

Can earthly deeds of man's design
Make any part of him divine
Will he be saved without Christ's blood
Or cast into the purging flood

Are filthy rags less filthy when
They fill a church prepared by men
Will less of Jesus blood be let
In paying your eternal debt

If you need our Lord's salvation
To prevent your own damnation
Then is your spirit better than
The spirits of your fellow man

For there are those who think they are
More righteous than their kin by far
They think their sins do not exist
That God has wiped them from His list

They don't believe they'll have to face
The consequence of their disgrace
Yet those they've wronged will still recall
Every transgression great and small

Can any misdeed go unchecked
If we don't know its full effect
Only the truth can set us free
To know that truth we have to see

If we don't see we can't repent
We have to know sin's full extent
Yet some believe their race is won
Their tab is picked up by the Son

But even if this wish came true
And memories were stripped from you
It doesn't mean you never sinned
Upon that truth you can depend

You'd still need Christ to save your soul
Your rag would still be black as coal
For all are like an unclean thing
Whose pride will make such statements sting

Meanwhile the sin of salvation
Elevates your earthly station
Though you're no better than the next
Unworthy soul that Christ protects

And those who know this will find grace
While those who don't...another place
For Judgment Day is coming soon
Not one of us will be immune

We'll stand before the judgment seat
In victory and in defeat
To learn the good and evil things
That everybody's free will brings

For we will lose the world's disguise
And see through unobstructed eyes
You'll see through mine and I through yours
No more stone walls or bolted doors

On that day we'll find clarity
And some will earn God's charity
A gift that cannot be repaid
Blood spilled by Him our sins betrayed

A burden carried to the cross
Was such a monumental loss
It's sad when pride obscures the price
Paid by His selfless sacrifice

Yet some will go on believing
Their vanity still deceiving
That faith makes them superior
Their fellow man inferior

This is the way Lucifer spins
A thing so pure when it begins
Into this abomination
The woeful sin of salvation

Faith does not make us superior but it makes us saved, New Creations in our spirits! We are to walk as Jesus did doing the "Greater Works" He predestined us to do and it only takes place by a believer who has matured to the point that the Holy Spirit leads and empowers them to do that work God has willed and NOT their own thing! Jesus said; Without me you cannot do anything. We have a warfare between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. Read Romans 7
