No Longer Tempted

by Sunshine & Naughtymouse   Dec 19, 2014

A love, lost once again
my heart will be locked away,
no longer tempted by sweet smiles
no longer tempted by a hair's sway...

I will break the last vow I've made
as I press my lips to this glass of wine,
hours will pass, and I shall forget its taste,
no longer strong as the first sip, no longer mine.

Shot down and locked up,
your memories, I-no longer need,
alone at the unleashed gate of us,
I set your soul free unaware how I bleed,

Sunk deep like a watery grave,
cold, as you were to me.
half alive, I'll survive, for I know our season,
was meant to pass over, was not meant to be.

Wow, this poem is sublime. It's pain of having to let a lover go; releasing them from ' the unleashed gate of us'

    Excellent writing and rhyming.

    Well done,
