Darkened Hearts Yell

by Maple Tree   Jan 3, 2015

A union gathering transforms
Within a forest of darkened
Shadows.

Creatures of old, father Oak,
Elders Pine and Birch,
Reunite sorrowful circles.

Smoke filled vespers of falling
Ashes sing songs of the spirit
Ghosts before them.

Death by hands of man lay heavy
Upon a scorching woodland heart,
Lone wolf yells, as moon shines

Down,
Upon an owl who stopped crying
For one second, to say goodbye
To the last fallen leaf.
