What's In The Box

by Glenn G   Jan 3, 2015

Have you ever worked with someone who wants a better result but doesn't want to try something new? It's as though they are stuck in a box and every now and then they stick there head out just long enough to make sure nothing is going to throw them out of their comfort zone. I have and do and I wonder how can you want one thing but be either to close minded or scared to step outside that comfort zone.
To me a person who wants change but refuses to change has locked himself in a room where he wants no visitors. Someone once said " The only thing we have to fear is...fear itself -- nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance."
It's almost as though they are afraid that something good might come out of something they can't take credit for and their box will crumble. It's not about being right or wrong, it's about being better. I'm not sure who said it but it goes something like this, "If you do things the way you have always done them then you will always get the results you have always gotten."

Now some may be wondering what does this have to do with poetry. When progress falls into place like that of words, when something improves the way one lives or work the way words challenge our thoughts and exercise our mind. Isn't this poetry?
Poetry can come in many forms but if we fail to read it, ponder on it and walk away a little better than before. Have we really tried hard enough to understand the poet.
I challenge those stuck in a box to come out. Try something--if it fails try something else. Get the poetic form of your job to flow like the words on paper. You will not only have a better company but a better group of employees. Cut the sides of that box and step outside.
