Her Last Plea

by WakingFreedom   Jan 7, 2015

Burning into the flesh of innocence,
Are the words a child is lead to believe.
Useless against the tormenting heat of anger,
You bring her down the road of fear.

Naming her what you've become.
Blaming her for what you have done.
A child is too young to carry your world.
A child is too young to grow so old.

Throwing your words around carelessly,
She's beginning to believe she ain't worth it.
It's too much work pleasing you.
It's too much effort to be perfect.

Falling to her knees, she begs to be saved,
Prayers go unanswered, faith shrivels.
Black and blue become her skin,
Smiles and laughter become her sin.

"Forgive me Lord, if you are true."
She has said her last plea.
Crumples to the ground and disappears.

Such a sad, sad poem especially as it happens to innocent children.

    That's such an honest poem.
You've shared your emotions and let it all out with these verses and that's not easy when it comes to this subject and that age.

I thought it was a very sad poem, beautiful title, the ending was really unexpected and helplessly sad.

    thanks for sharing

Wow, very powerful and brutally honest. A heartbreaking account of what is all too real. Well written.

I liked this poem although, I would've liked more commas within the poem and some periods would've made a difference, like a friend of mine once told me (though it stung like hell) punctuation does help a poem, to make it more grand. I loved the story that was the poem, the flow didn't waver throughout the poem, and finally you could see and feel while reading the poem and that's truly great. Great job and have a lovely day. 5/5
