Transcending (Tanka)

by Jenni   Jan 19, 2015

Stumbling barefooted
along the path of life, yet
to sign the tombstone
when pavements open
up before me; planting seeds.

Great to see a new piece from you! So much depth in this tanka and I almost feel at peace after reading. The first image I had while reading was of a little rustic cottage with a garden outside. The first few lines remind me of waking up in the morning, groggy, disoriented and walking outside... then seeing the world arise from its slumber. I also sensed adventure and possibility in this, promise in the future. "Signing the pavements" made me think of committing to something or being the leading lady in your life, making decisions and letting your voice be heard :)

Jenni it doesn't matter if you don't think that you do a grand job of it, it's the fact that you wrote something is what's grand! Some poets are in the writer's block at the moment I almost got stuck there, but I'm glad you're writting again! :) So proud of the poem too, it's quite beautiful. 5/5
