The Skull

by Andrew Packard   Jan 27, 2015

The Skull

Penetration beneath the skin
Stretches leather from head to chin
Eyes like black caveats
A mouth that stares screams and targets

Cranium alien helmet
Inside disguised monstrosity
reminds you of what you are not
Brittle bones cracked by society

Anthem mind born to die
Trapped inside to wonder why
Jagged joints jut chaotically
As the joker grasps at the sky

And in the end
The skull joins lost far off friends
Where meaning gathers to pretend
Cutting glass through eyes' spiral winds
