Safe Haven

by Beautiful Tragedy   Mar 25, 2015

The nights; Long and frigid,
Are never my best friend.
I try to escape the nightmares that trap me,
Gripping me in their claws,
Tearing at wounds long unforgotten
Making them bleed worse.
The cold seeps through the little warmth I have,
Leaving me left with chills,
And I wrap myself in memories;
Of being safely held in your arms.
Your lips on my forehead,
Pressing gently, but firmly
And Pulling me into you, keeping me safe.
A million words hang in the air between us,
Nothing is being said,
But we both understand what the other is trying to say
Quiet, even breathing,
Racing hearts,
Wrapped up in love and heat.
With your arms around me,
I fear nothing.
I know nothing can get to me.
I breath in your intoxicating scent and;
Closing my eyes I take a deep breath.
I make a mental note to live in the moment,
Enjoy it while it lasts
I pray that nothing ever takes this away from me,
And I vow to protect you in any way that I can.
You keep me safe from harm.
I run to you when everything is wrong.
When the world threatens to tear me apart,
You are my safe haven.
