Thousand Years

If you can turn back time what would you change?
A decade ago I hoped to change one thing,
To not take a step away from my homeland.
But everything has changed since I met her.

Every night I stare at the sky,
hoping that there will be a shooting star.
I only have one wish in the present time,
And that is to be able to talk to God.

I want to ask if this wonderful woman,
Will be together with her soulmate in heaven.
Because every time I lay my eyes upon her
I only see pain, suffering and agony.

In this life people yearn to find the missing piece of their heart.
Some people achieve this by meeting a person.
But this woman who is experiencing hell.
Has lost a piece of her soul

I have experienced love in the past,
But I question if that was even real.
Because in comparison to my love and her's
It feels like heaven and hell is the difference.

Their love for each other is so pure and beautiful,
It feels like their soul is one and it transcends to heaven.
They are indeed one of the luckiest people alive
And if she can live a thousand years, her love will not falter.

And I will forever admire this woman
Because her love made me realise that God exists
Because with everything that she had
She chose to let go because she loves God.

    Marc, I believe this is a personal write from you because this person you have been searching for and love dearly cannot love you fully (I feel) because they are dedicated to God but that's alright by you as long as you have this person in your life. Love can bloody suck sometimes and I know first hand just how much it can suck. As beautiful soul said, we all believe we've been in love etc then that one person you really cannot live without comes around thus showing us that it wasn't love the last time or time before that but lust though I believe no one can ever forget their first love.

    There is so much beauty In this poem. The key thing in this poem seems to be love, how this person loves god and how much you love this person. This poem seems to be a very personal one and that is something I love in love poems. Your wording is nice and it is simple but the message is really strong. We all think we have experienced love in the past and then that love fades when we find that one person who we have truly been looking for. This poem overall is great. Wish I could nominate but it is in the love category so I cant. 5/5
