Someone Please Tell Me

by Spontaneity   Jul 28, 2015

Someone please tell me why,
we have lost so many brothers.
Why this world is in utter chaos
at the expense of others.

Someone please tell me how
people can easily refuse to care,
about those of us of the same blood,
and who were always there.

Someone please tell me if
its okay to be alone,
to never give your heart away
for fear of the unknown.

Someone please tell me
its okay to be afraid.
That there will always be tomorrow,
and that mistakes will be made.

Someone please tell me
my life is not set in stone,
that I can change my future,
and this life is mine to own.

The world is as it is.
And people are becoming more careless every day.
Of course people will hurt you, therefore it is good to forget and move on.
If you keep it in your heart, it will make you a slave to those feelings.

    Hello,

Just popping back to read another of your poems...

The title - 'someone please tell me' is a good one. I see a stage and the super-trouper trained on you. Like a preacher, you announce the title...

    Someone please tell me why,
we have lost so many brothers.
Why this world is in utter chaos
    at the expense of others.
    ^
So, to the audience - I imagine a predominantly black crowd, attentive, captivated by your presence. The topic, raw and etched with blood that stains the hands of politicians.

    Someone please tell me how
people can easily refuse to care,
about those of us of the same blood,
    and who were always there.
    ^
Your face sweats beneath the hot light. You bellow again...
Needless neglect of your fellow man. No one should walk past a beggar. For the grace of God that could be you too!

    Someone please tell me if
    its okay to be alone,
to never give your heart away
    for fear of the unknown.
    ^
The congregation is on fire, electrically joined to your voice...
Being able to make those choice without judgement is the right of all.

    Someone please tell me
    its okay to be afraid.
That there will always be tomorrow,
and that mistakes will be made.
    ^
Gasping now, the sermon tiring you out, but no time to slow as the message is reaching its peak...
Mistakes, we make them all. You point and look out, deep into the room. Mistakes, you repeat are for you, me, everyone to make. Those without sin cast the first stone!

    Someone please tell me
my life is not set in stone,
that I can change my future,
and this life is mine to own.
    ^
Finally, and with mega effort your arms raised high...
Do not judge others life's, there life is there's alone. The Lord alone will judge.

Now go, all of you and live your lives your way you choose and leave others to do the same.

I hope you don't mind me responding in this way. Your poem's message states a clear message. Sadly too many people struggle to lead their life's, but still choose to criticise others. I think it is because they can't stand seeing others happy.

Anyway, I will sign off now.

    Take care,

    Michael

Hmmm... I like the refrains of "someone please tell me"

I really like the flow of this poem.

    ts okay to be alone,
to never give your heart away
    for fear of the unknown.

^ It's okay to be alone, but eventually we will give our heart away... Sometimes that aspect of giving our heart away make us stronger. However, we have to learn to whom we give our heart to... there's no rush.

There will always be some type of fear, I myself have it and I can't get rid of it, but I know that if I don't stop holding onto this fear, I will never know what's out there for me...

All I know is that every mistake one makes can be made into a new positive experience for us, that is, for every mistake we are willing to learn from then there's no such a thing as a mistake.

Very good and thoughtful write, executed really well. Hits hard, as the subject matter should.
