Gasoline Lies

by H. Elizabeth   Aug 2, 2015

They told me not to light
myself on fire to
keep someone else
warm
but I did it anyways and
the fire was huge and
in the end
you escaped my flames
leaving me to
burn
after you poured your
Gasoline Lies
on me and took a step back
unharmed
you watched the flames engulf me
and I turned to ash
all because of your
Gasoline Lies
that i got drunk on
every night
and I never tasted gasoline
so sweet
but it tasted like your lips and
all your lies of I love you
all your lies of forever
and a part of me
enjoyed the feeling of
my insides burning
because it reminded me I was still
alive
after I'd been drunk for so long
on your
Gasoline Lies.

Truly, our emotions inflame. All that glitters, is never gold. Within every scar, healing dwells.

I genuinely love this piece. The title itself drew me in. Well written.
