My Home

My home is not an empty shell
that is called a house. Home is in
your arms where your love flows
into my heart and heals my wounds.

    Hello,

This is a lovely piece that you have penned here.

Compact writing is like condensing all the great parts of a film into a 30 second clip. This gives them a vivid intensity that hard to find in drawn out writing.

My home is not an empty shell

Here you create an image of a home, yes, but much more than that. This home is a metaphor for a person, more specifically, you as you are writing in the first tense. Also, the statement is that a house/ you are not empty. Empty of emotions, namely love, perhaps?

    thats called a house.
    ^
Quite right, an empty house is not a home. Just like a person in a coma is not really alive, connected with its mind and soul.

    Home is in
    your arms
    ^
Here we have why your body is not a shell. It is complete in the arms of another being who presumably returns your love?

    where your love flows
    ^
Yes, love is reciprocated and joins the circle of love that is healthy and nourishing.

into my heart and heals my wounds.
    ^
This is a happy, sad line. A person who needs love is what we all need. However, a person who needs love to heal wounds is in desperate need of a special healing love. A love that needs to cherish and care and protect. Like picking up a fledgling chick in the palm of your hands and returning it delicately to the nest.

I hope this love nourishes you and gives you the strength to fly. Not away, just to be able to fly together unaided.

    Well done on this poem.

    Take care,

    Michael
