His huge love could not
overcome her empty purse

    This is fantastic and for some reason made me think alot because there could be so many scenarios within this short piece that they are twirling around in my head and making the dark thoughts go awhile so for that, I thank you.

    Title - makes me ask, is there such a thing as 'true love?' If so, then I hope to find it someday.

    Really sorry but the first line made me laugh a little because I instantly thought that the love was in place of something else of you know what I mean... Of course, I mean ego lol ;)

    I guess no matter how much you love somebody if they don't love you back then that's it right, there is nothing more embarrassing than either being stood up or you declare you undying love for someone for them to laugh in your face literally.

    I am sure I got it completely wrong but I just imagined this fella sitting alone in this restaurant waiting for the person he loves dearly for her to leave him stranded, leading to him dining by himself.

    Take care, very clever.

    Another winner I think! I so love these short, but very meaningful poems.

    Short and to the point! I love Senryus, they manage to deliver what's on the poets minds in very condensed doe of emotions. The idea within these lines I found to be so true. Not always that a vacancy can be occupied. Some remain empty for a long time, or even forever.

    His huge love could not

    ^ I love this line as it can be interpreted in so many ways. Love is such a strange thing that can be good or bad. I also like how you kind of leave us with a cliff hanger at the end of the line, it makes the reader want more.

    overcome her empty purse
    ^
    I think for this line at the end there could be a semi colon. Like this:

    overcome her empty purse;

    I think it makes more sense and when I read it I paused there. And it seems like this person has no money and in being so feels guilty about the love he has for her.

    a man dines alone.

    And this line wraps the poem up well. The man is alone at the end when you thought they would be together, a short piece yes but speaks so much meaning.
