Never Ending Maze

by Marc Ortiz   Aug 21, 2015

Life is like a never ending maze,
Sometimes people will make the wrong turn.
Most of the time we just stand and give up.
But everyone needs a hand to conquer the task.

There was a girl trapped in a bleak, cold place.
Everyday she was tormented by a demon.
This beast uses fear to dominate her mind.
I pity this girl because her life was slowly fading.

An angel descended from heaven to cleanse the evil.
This guardian casted an invisible bubble for the girl
Inside this protective enchantment everything was warm
The defender of light promised to keep the girl safe.

The girl however was still disturbed by this monster,
She was scared because of the pain inflicted to her.
The fear was overwhelming that it feels like,
There was an ice shard piercing her lungs.

This girl was truly trapped inside the maze.
The Angel has witness that the poor girl was lost.
The guardian had sworn to free the girl from her agony.
So she challenged the devil in a confrontation.

The messenger of God believes that,
Anything is worth saving - even the demon.
At first the monster was persistent but
With the power of God's word he was purged.

The beast felt dejected and embarrassed for his sins,
He cried as he explained that he was lost in the dark
He promised to leave without leaving a trace of his presence.
But the warrior of God told him that he should repent.

As I witnessed this crisis I can't help but wonder,
Who did God actually saved?
Was it the girl that was trapped in a dark place,
Or the demon lost in the wilderness?

Marc, what a powerful, enthralling write.

I felt like you were writing about me at first (lol) the devil/beast of depression can take a really strong hold on us and sometimes it's hard to come out of it but when you see the other side, it's wonderful.

Great job with fabulous imagery and metaphors throughout.
