Nature's Backyard

by Shelley Williams   Sep 7, 2015

The north wind blows
and rustles the leaves,
A wonder of nature
afloat in the breeze.

Soft pink petals
with a delicate glow,
Autumn comes quickly
in the seasonal flow.

Bright days of summer
make way for the fall,
Leaves orange and yellow
on trees standing tall.

A variety of flowers
among shades of blue,
They start to shrivel
and frost chills the dew.

A portrait of nature
reflects a live scene,
The grand masterpiece
shaded patches of green.

A snapdragon garden
and children on toes,
Pinched purple blossoms
that open and close.

These summer images
caught by the eyes,
The butterfly flutters
and leaves colder skies.

A chill and a whisper,
a change on the land,
Awake to the beauty
the heart understand.

This is lovely and has a wonderful, unforced flow and rhyming structure. Wonderful
