Sadly

by Bob Shank   Sep 14, 2015

Sadly

a tear flows
from haunting echoes
children molested
young life tested
hanging on
but the soul is gone
we medicate them
dedicate them
to a life of pain
an existence inane

Sadly

Grandma's mind has left
mystery's greatest theft
confined to a nursing home
where she'll die "alone"
also lost was her dignity
thrown away by family
but does anyone really care
not until they end up there

Sadly

a child is born with no legs
medical needs the family begs
a voice with no sound
says they've been turned down
government escape
comes in the form of red tape

Sadly

We declare war
never knowing what for
propaganda and lies we hear
from leaders who instill fear
patriotic fools sign up to fight
without questioning wrong or right
young folk return home in a bag
america the greatest, we brag
we call them heroes between tears we shed
but there's nothing heroic about being dead

Sadly

we continue living this way
searching the skies as we pray
for a savior that was never there
another manmade tactic to scare
yet we want to believe
we haven't been deceived

Sadly....

Bitter truth - each one of it.
    Very Strong message, Bob.

Many a times when we stop to think, we wonder is society formed for us or are we mere pawns for the societies to run. And can we do without them.

    Thank you Bob.
