In The Arms of Joy

by Anna Stephens   Oct 30, 2015

Leaving today, back to the place
Where my heart continues to sing.
Lifting the darkness from my soul
Hark, the mountains are calling me.

Thought to have found a paradise,
Temporary shelter from harm.
Alas to find my eyes were blind
To the vipers inhabiting there.

Chaos abounds in this Eden,
Replete with deception and lies.
Now assaulting my solitude,
Electra's daughters screech in the night.

My silence is there awaiting,
Tranquility mine once more
To rest in the arms of joy
In the land where the eagles soar.
