A Christmas Charm

by Mr. Darcy   Dec 14, 2015

Clomp, clomp, stomp...
I stagger heavy booted
towards the frozen pond...

With wobbly ankles and thighs
I take the ice and slide...

The wind is icy,
white and spiteful;
the speed that I'm travelling
is far from delightful...

It is then I realise
that my balance is off;
not by a little, but...
a whole damn lot!

My arms are flailing,
In fact they're flapping,
One thing for sure is,
No flying is happening!

Just like a cat,
a frenzied puss,
My form is poor,
not looking good.

'Make way, make way',
I plead, I urge...
I should have thought
about this first!

Skaters jump,
they leap from harm...
A prayer is needed,
a Christmas charm!

My eyes start leaking,
My bladder too;
Oh no, my goodness...
a number two?

Snow starts fluttering,
back-lit by the sun:
Ahead, reaching arms
with a face full of fun...

I am redirected,
Corrected with ease,
A simple twist that
Stemmed from the knees.

Received like a parcel
From D.H.L;
straight into
the arms
of my honey girl...

Together we twirl,
around we whirl;
a pair pirouetting in a:

s l o w - m o t i o n

Tableau.
