Jackpot of dreams

by Daisy if you do   Jan 7, 2016

Thousands of hours over many years
we have planned and plotted our journey
Driving the East coast,
in a Thelma and Louise type escapade,
laughing hysterically like madmen,
charted courses mapped out,
though roads may change
before they are travelled

Reams of paper hold countless efforts of our intent
Pages upon pages of wishes and wants
Some, littered with coffee stains of
Hopes paw prints pasted among them
Others,
Scattered amongst the floor
as if they were a trail of breadcrumbs
that lead to unrealistic dreams.

Week after week, jackpot after jackpot,
remained unclaimed by two aging women with
aspirations bigger than any waistline of Woodson
everything planned to the slightest minute detail.
How many horses, goats and pigs we'd have
what kind of chickens are best suited for the weather
to the square footage of the barn

With blueprints sketched in our minds
we gave our dollars like tithe to cashiers,
for the investment we claimed
and regardless of the outcome
we played... religiously

Dedicated to Anna. The powerball is 500 million, I bought our tickets. I love you my dear friend.
