Hymns and Prayer

by Michael D Nalley   Jan 8, 2016

I have often prayed a prayer far too long
for someone to tell me I've prayed it wrong.
For what is any hymn, but a heart song
to gently lift my soul, and make it strong?

Sometimes black and white turn to shades of gray
when I ask, "You" master for my own way.
I share more of my thoughts from day to day
Keep me close to "You", never let me stray

From many indifferent to those who care,
when my storms were rough while weather was fair,
I could count on one Spirit to be there
after raising my voice to say my prayer.

Dancing to the beat of your own drum. It is not the formalities of religion that make us spiritual beings. It is the experience of the world as Sacred and our part in it being important.
