Sarcoma

by Michael D Nalley   Mar 1, 2016

I called a friend, standing in awe,
after the one who practiced law
believed my health needed attention
The preacher thought he had fashioned straw
from a rough sketch a poetess could draw.
as she drew from her apprehension

Hallelujah( x 4) to the tune of Leonard Cohen

I expected him to drop his jaw,
at least an exclamation like pshaw!
It was beyond his comprehension
We all were more like quick draw McGraw
discourse, sort of mean, and kindly raw
projecting well our pretension

Hallelujah( x 4) to the tune of Leonard Cohen

You know it was me who stood in awe
after the one who had practiced law
advised me to seek intervention
I then picked up my hammer and saw
before my weak vision could withdraw
for all purposes and intention

Hallelujah( x 4) to the tune of Leonard Cohen

Gavels are hammers to overawe
and two of my senses had no flaw
when a legal mind got my attention
enlightenment, a spirit spa,
frozen hearts would or could not thaw
A gram of love, tons of prevention.

Hallelujah( x 4) to the tune of Leonard Cohen
