How in the world was this one missed by me and others?

This left a lump in my throat whilst reading, not least because I know the truth of it and how much Cindy loved the winter and snow. She used to tell me how she would look out the window, waiting for it. I think (I might be mistaken) she saw some before she passed - but she said it had come late this year.

Those last three lines are so powerful Kay, and I am absolutely sure - as you say - Cindy loved this piece.

I never knew Cindy personally as I have only recently started back on this site but I know quite a few are saddened by her passing as I know I'm sure I would be if I was around.
This piece gave me Goosebumps and is quite symbolic for you. Beautiful.
