Monarch of Falsehoods

by AngelaLuisaCory   Mar 19, 2016

With infinite wisdom comes infinite pain.
What this woman loses is another man's gain.
Whatever you see is not always a choice,
The clouds and the sun will alter your voice.
You gave me your hand, but I led the way,
Your choice was to go, but don't beg me to stay.
Your choice is the truth, but not how you view it -
Your choice is a lie, there's no other way through it.
The depths of your soul were no depths at all,
Yet why was this woman once so enthralled?
Too soon to move forward, too late to go back,
Waves of experience obscured all the tracks.
But do not expect, through all your regrets,
To be where you were, this pathway of hope.
Your footsteps will stumble, your words will all choke,
For I now move to music and not to your touch.
Your love is a memory, and buried as such.
I know in your dreams that you'll visit the past,
But try to remind me, I'll probably laugh.
How could a love which I thought was so true,
Be swallowed in sorrow remembering you?
I now close my eyes, as you once closed your heart,
My Monarch of Falsehoods, forever apart.

    What a powerfully visual poem.
I love the imagery and the lines in particular
the clouds and the sun will alter your voice
waves of experience obscured all the tracks
I now close my eyes as you once closed your heart
full of rich feeling loved it x
