The Dust Settles

by Michael D Nalley   Mar 31, 2016

I need a fairy I can trust
to sprinkle me with fairy dust
to feel the magic once again.
and the dust must settle within
Would that be such an awful sin?

When dust settles the feeling's gone
Somehow my muddled mind is drawn
back to the days when I was young
while my song remained quite unsung
it seemed like I could never win

Then I would wolf whistle and swoon
Now I guess I'll howl at the moon
as the sparkling butterflies fly
around a mystic eye nearby
in the beautiful forest's mist
as dreamers dream of being kissed
let the steamy romance begin

Fairytales often come alive
where mysterious creatures thrive
for those who would dare fantasize
while imaginations arise
I need a fairy I can trust
to sprinkle me with fairy dust.
Would that be such an awful sin?

"I think what drew me into this poem was its flow and roundness of the story. Using fairytales in love poems is not new but the melody of this poem breathed new life in it, also the repeating question of whether it would truly be considered a sin, just added more personality to the ever-old comparisons with fairytales. Michael, great work. It's very catchy with the rhyming. I believe that we all need a bit of fairy dust sprinkled on us by that special fairy, abit like cupids' arrow?

    All the best, Em

I've enjoyed this piece,it's delicately beautiful.Somehow to me it seems as though you were speaking of those "things" we sometimes yearn for, only to realize later on that they're but vanity.Good work on this.
