Once again

by Ernest Johnson   Apr 22, 2016

Once again in my place
You're silent slap across my face
The deafening sound of words unspoken
Used to leave me torn and broken
The scorn sent from your not parted lips
And a soul stripped to shreds and bits
Don't stop to look around
I have left the battleground
I have no desire to stay and fight
You can stay and think you're right
My shackles now are broken
From the nightmare I have woken
No tears will seep down my face
As I leave this wretched place

    Hello Ernest

A well rhymed little poem here about love gone wrong. Sometimes, the best thing is to leave relationships like this behind as they are only destructive to both parties.
I love the last couplet as it includes the word 'wretched' - I use that a lot in my poetry and no matter how hard I try, I can't stop using it - great word; says everything it has to.

    All the best,
    Ben
