The woman you love

by Yakari Gabriel   May 1, 2016

Just understand
that it has nothing to do with you,
that there is no way to love a woman
that is blinded by self hatred
no embrace long enough
to melt the cold within her soul

no meal you can cook
to satiate her hunger,
when its anxiety that makes
her eat her own fingernails

there is no detail beautiful enough,
for a woman who decided that
beauty wasn't meant for her
no roses
no songs
there is no right way to love
a woman who has decided
love is not for her

safe your time,
stop calling
the woman you want
is an abandoned building

Yakari, I voted on this the other day but didn't have chance to comment with work. I think this is really beautifully written and is truthful, many people can relate including me to some extent.

    Just understand
that it has nothing to do with you,
that there is no way to love a woman
that is blinded by self hatred
    no embrace long enough
to melt the cold within her soul
    ^^
A very powerful opening because once a woman has been hurt and yes, is blinded by self loathing there is no way to truly love her because she won't allow it. I like the image of an hug trying to melt the coldness inside us self loathing ladies.

    no meal you can cook
    to satiate her hunger,
    when its anxiety that makes
    her eat her own fingernails
    ^^
A very powerful stanza because nothing will satisfy her hunger more than the biting of her own nails to make her anxieties subside even for a few seconds.

there is no detail beautiful enough,
for a woman who decided that
    beauty wasn't meant for her
    no roses
    no songs
there is no right way to love
    a woman who has decided
    love is not for her
    ^^
I love this because it reminded of a quote thats says 'if we cannot love ourselves who else will love us?' And once a woman feels unbeautiful it's hard for them to let anybody in.

    safe your time,
    stop calling
    the woman you want
    is an abandoned building
    ^^
A powerful ending to a beautiful yet meaningful piece. Love this.
