The Notes of a Musician

by Shelley Williams   May 10, 2016

I looked at the arrangement
and worked on my song.
The music was pleasant
and my vocals were strong.

Written on a grand staff
which keys to play.
The placement of notes
showed me the way.

My fingers played high
and at other times low.
I played with much rhythm
and went with the flow.

The directions were clear
and my expressions deep.
I communicated with pitch
the music I would keep.

Chords played together
in harmony,  sweet.
The tune was amazing
that went with the beat.

There is beauty found
in notation and chord,
While major and minor
are often explored.

Whether it be guitar
or the piano keys played.
The wonders of sound
are beautifully made.

The challenge that comes
with in tune perfection,
Is taking the music
in the right direction.

I may hit a wrong key
or play the wrong chord,
But, I will keep playing
that mistakes be ignored.

The song is expressed
and played like a saint.
Lovely is the masterpiece
a musician can paint.
