Cursed Sands - Retribution

by Maher   Jun 16, 2016

News falls nigh upon deafened ears
of a messenger sent by apparition.
Blood has spilled for countless years
in absence of noble disposition.
Many a child were led to die
by the blind men of this inquisition,
with many a woman chained behind
the drawbridge, bars and stony prisons.

A sense of darkness befalls the sky
as weighted air befalls the land.
A one man siege upon the fortified;
the gates corrode whilst stones disband.

Every knight in shining armour;
swords drawn high in defense of honor
fell aged to the earth, souls reaped by truth;
prostrate to one who bares no ruth.

In time, the king does realise
the omen befalling his open reign.
With shortened breath, he calls to rise
his highest guard, his hidden bane:

"stride forth with your sword in hand
and completeth this, your noble mission.
Return not, lest he's rendered banned;
his life forfeit though execution!"

While moving forth to make his stand,
Death appears in open vision.
A sickle swings whilst a king commands
as Bane falls swift in full perdition.

With broken tongue and heart in strands,
the king draws back, aghast and stricken
midst the falling of his tyrant stand;
a blade soon rings and a life is taken.
