Father, father

by Yakari Gabriel   Aug 30, 2016

I think if God was a woman, I would love her deeply. all I've known are absent fathers, all I've known are girls who say they really love the one they have.
the concept of having a
child is fuzzy to me
maybe, because
knowing it takes two to raise is painful to me
to me father is a poem I don't like writing
to me father is a voice on a phone every couple months
is a pain I never talk about
is a pain I try to laugh at
but all these issues
all this I am half empty issue
all this I can't let no man love me issue
all this can we please not talk about men
issue
start with father
end with father
block me from going further
father, further
only difference is ur
all the pain you are

    Nicely written.
Very emotive and expressive free verse which many should be able to relate to.

I'm sorry you've had to go through your life with this man you have to call dad but hasn't been there to be a father. So many parents who don't deserve the title but yet there they are claiming to be just that. If people only understood the lasting effects they have on their children by the incredibly stupid way they act maybe they would actually step up. You really expressed your feelings well, I hope one day you will find peace in your life with this man.

Well written - it is really hard to relate to anything in a positive way when our own experiences of them are tarnished. Mother/ female figures will always feel safe, reliable and trust worthy. Whereas father, male figures will induce darker thoughts. It is shame he gave you such a negative representation of father figures.

    Well done on this.

    Take care,

    Michael
