Reminiscent

by Mahal Ko Kuya Ko   Aug 30, 2016

Those sunflowers bring resonance:
your voice, March, pine trees,
sitting arrangements, anxious nights,
brilliant blue skies, and bittersweet goodbyes.

And I intend to forget
your moonlit face -
your foot outside the bus window,
frigid breeze brought lullabies,
food stabs on the floor;
a recollection of memories...
and I couldn't even hold a pen.

(I was supposed to write about you.)

Capricious... Whimsical... Paradoxical:
Metamorphosis, incomplete, damselflies...
Ranting about how I don't deserve
to be in your life.

Your oceans are far too silent,
shores, too treacherous,
wasn't meant for your geography,
but I studied it so well.

You are always my poetry.

Wow! This one is something pretty much every member here relates to at some point or another within their life story, and this week, this author definitely hit that feeling out of the park! Effortless, simple images with a personal twist allow the pain to effect the entire audience as well as clear the poet's mind (we hope) of some of the heartache. It is elegant in it's own way, and this piece really does touch the hearts of the community. The author's voice is clear and still extremely unique while managing to continue playing off of a universal experience. The diction elevates the piece with a nice contrast to the easy images, and the graceful flair that was incorporated among the sorrow/longing was amazingly captivating. Stunning piece.

As above, this is something else. The imagery and reminiscing fitted perfectly.
I can tell this person meant a lot to you and probably still does, love is hard very hard indeed.
