Deadly affections

by Brenda   Oct 1, 2016

He was that man,
you know,
tall, dark, handsome...
the perfect package.
Hard working, smooth talking,
so amazing with your kids.
You thought you had found,
"THE ONE"
but people with no pasts
carry dark secrets-
You married, you loved,
you bore him two beautiful girls,
what a wonderful way
to round out
a "perfect family".
But there was trouble in paradise,
wasn't there?
Control issues, anger issues,
things that go on behind closed doors,
family business
that is no one else's, is it?
Three times you filed
with the courts.
Backing out of finalizing
this marriage of hell
you now found yourself in.
This time was going to be it,
you were done, tired of the fights,
tired of being afraid.
But your 'perfect man" had other ideas-
He dragged you to the basement,
trussed you like a Christmas goose,
giving you pause,
had he done this before?
Gagging you,
so you couldn't cry out.
Out came the box cutter,
across your face it slid.
Cutting deep,
he whispered these words
into your ear;
"if I can't have you,
no-one else will want you."
Then came the gun,
one blast, searing pain,
pieces of your foot in tatters...
He left you there,
silently screaming in your head,
so much fear in your eyes.
God, where had he gone?
He had so many other plans
for your "perfect family".
Taking the youngest girls
out to the garage, engine running,
fumes extinguished their life flames.
Returning to place them
back to bed, tucked in,
"sleeping" so peacefully...
He wasn't done was he?
Dragging the older children
into the basement,
to you,
he wanted to make sure you saw
the life leave their eyes.
A single bullet
to the head,
dispatched their life flames.
You swear you saw their spirits
fly out...
With that he was gone.
Left alone, mind splintered, body destroyed,
at your feet laid
your progeny in a ever widening
pool of blood...
They found you there,
the police, called by the same man
who had done this to you,
to your children.
Destroying everything you held dearest
to your heart.
Who was this monster?
This stranger you had married,
had children with?
This "perfect" man?

A brilliant write Brenda you have captured the emotion very well on a difficult subject.
Its difficult to walk in another's shoes especially when such a dark and sickening subject. Its horrible that such things happen and usually behind closed doors. The sad thing is that we are hearing more and more of such horrible things. Milly x

Thank you Milly, your words comfort me. As awful as the circumstances I felt so strongly to write this, it helped me purge some of the awfulness out of my head. Hugs to you-

How can anyone do such a horrific thing!??? Its so painful just to read it and I can only imagine what that poor woman went thorough and to see her kids die right in front of her eyes.

This is a message to all to not fall for just "that looks" and all. One has to know a person before jumping into anything. Now to know that this was a true event just hurts more...take care Brenda

Thank you Meena, I can't even begin to imagine what she went through or what she's going through right now.For this man to take away what she held dearest is unfathomable. That would destroy me.

Thank you Andrea, it is indeed senseless violence and I am still in shock that someone could actually do this to their own children. The only way I can make any sense of this is just pure evil. Take care-Brenda
