I'm Still A Mother

by Denise Jefferson   Oct 29, 2016

These old legs don't stand like they used to
Their strength is gone
But still they want to stand besides you
These old arms don't hug like they used to
Their strength is gone
But still they want to hold and embrace you
These old eyes don't see like they used to
Their strength is gone
But still they want to see your smile
These old ears don't hear like they used to
But still they want to hear your
I Love You
Just a whisper they would hear
But no longer do they
They want to hear you shout
I Love You!
I Love You!
This old nose doesn't smell like it used to
It's strength is gone
But still it wants to smell when you are near
This old body doesn't do what it used to
It's strength is gone
But still it aches to be part of your life
This old heart doesn't beat like it used to
It's strength is gone
But still with thrill it beats when you are near
Although old and gray I am now
My strength is gone
I'm still a mother, I'm still your mother
Please always be my child
Remember when I used to do, when you loved me so
But now I'm old, I love you still
I'm still a mother and a mother I'll always be

I really liked this a lot. My own mother is 80 now and I am still her baby, just as my kids are still my babies. We never stop being a mom. So very true- well done.
