Monsters

by Lyssi Lori   Nov 26, 2016

I was working on a poem and I got stuck. It was all coming out so lovely! Idk what happened to my inspiration. But this is what I have so far:

When I was young, monsters lived under my bed,
Scratching at my floorboards, filling me with dred.
They howled awful things, their words were filled with hate.
My parents reminded me it was children that they ate.

They must have gotten cramped under my bed,
They crawled from underneath, up into my head.

They started traveling with me, there was no escape,
Damaging my brain, leaving behind deep scrapes.
Harsh whispers of other people's thoughts...
Making me feel lonely.
Making me feel forgot.

They stayed with me for many years, filling me with doubt,
Making me question what life was all about.

... .... ...

There is gunna be a positive ending. I can feel it... I just can't think anymore! Ahhhh! I was pretty excited because I haven't had a good poem come out in a while. If it's good I'm gunna make it into a book for my niece. I need a poem to read at the poetry slam. It's still rough.
