The ticking off the night

by Everlasting   Dec 17, 2016

Thinking, thinking...
The clock is ticking.
The night is slipping
when I should be sleeping

Thinking, thinking...
The day is sweeping
the Stars from the sky
as the night is skipping

Thinking, thinking...
Insomnia is keeping
my sleep from beeping
rest from my thinking

Thinking, just thinking

Ha! Ha! Ha!.. Nice poem. I like reading this one. Night like this comes in people's life. They keep on staring at the ceiling, thinking and thinking.

Well done, so have been there! My mind races with thoughts and I should be writing these down. But my brain is also telling me to sleep too. What to do???

    Lucero,

This is far too modern and lacks any form of traditional, 'old English' so I simply won't accept this as a po..." - :)

I like this a lot, in all seriousness - not least because it sounds like one of my typical nights where sleep eludes me and I find myself running up and down the stairs in the small hours scribbling ideas for poems. Of course, the irony is, that's what's keeping me awake to begin with!

*quick note - 'The ticking 'of' the night'. One 'f' here.

Well done and all the very best,

    Ben
