Chameleon

by Yakari Gabriel   Dec 19, 2016

I fear this feeling,
as hard as
I love you
fear that you'll
find out, just
how much of an animal
I can be,
when I go from
poet to woman
from friend to lover
when these short writes
turn into scriptures-
when my claws come
out and I scar you
just to mark territory
just to let them know
you're mine

Yakari, I must say I really like the mystery of this write but I must admit I don't understand the title from the context within the piece though it probably just me lol.

I think we all fear the unknown of not knowing if we will get hurt especially if we have been hurt previously or many times though I don't think this is about that but it's what came to mind and I reckon when we love someone so deeply we don't want to hurt them either but sometimes it happens because of how we feel and sometimes they cannot deal with our past misfortunes.
The ending of this I absolutely loved because we all put on a front so as not to her hurt again.
I loved the imagery here of scaring someone as to mark your territory, wow.
    Fab as always,
    Em
