Senseless Killings Of War

by Ben Pickard   Dec 30, 2016

Your ears were muffled
with gun powder. My eyes
were shredded with shrapnel -

- you saw them shoot her
in silence while I could only
hear our little girl's screams.

You were able to convey strong emotion of sadness and fear with few words. While reading, I could feel the guy wrenching fear and guilt of not being able to help from being wounded. I love free form poetry, it usually has the most emotion.

    Great job on this piece.

A very sad imaginary. Sir... All the best for the future. And Happy New Year 2017.

Sorry, Naomi. I suppose that's what I was thinking about as I wrote this: there's a lot of celebration going on at the moment around the world but an awful lot of suffering too.

      Take care
