Opposable Thumbs

by Aegis   Jan 30, 2017

All of this gravel I'm eating keeps
chipping my teeth.
I'm gulping down street signs and
second chances faster than
I can speak-
pretty soon I'll spit up a road that will lead us out of here.

Maybe then I'll learn to drive instead of hitchhiking.

Aegis, another enthralling write that speaks so much that it jumps out the page at me, grabs me and shakes me violently lol... To say i am speechless is an understatement.
Title - this leads much to the imagination and it makes me question why are these 'thumbs' at loggerheads when they are the same.

1/ This is fantastic and the imagery is too. For some reason i imagined you turning into hulk or another superhero to destroy all what had been made so you can make your own path.

2/ I always like how you separate the ending statement because even though it may not be intentional you always make me take a deep breath in and out then continue and that's what I like about your poetry. Anyway, to me this says I will take my own lead instead of taking someone else because you aren't a follower which is great because we all need time to be alone and find the person we can be; love ourselves because if we don't who else will?
    Fantastic.

I truly admire your effortless use of imaginative metaphor in your poetry.
    This is very good work.

    All the best,
