Empty Promises

by The Fallen Angel   Feb 12, 2017

I believed in you, and
followed your steps.
I was blinded by love,
and deep drowned in faith.
Only now, I realised that,
I'm just a player,
in your game of misfortune -
a pawn to your throne,
am nothing but a thorn,
underneath your feet.
You had forgotten,
that I had a name,
and I had a dream,
together we could have,
achieved and conquered,
all the heights.
Instead, you have given me -
empty promises, and a life
full of despair and insecurities.

Love can keep us in abusive, one sided relationships. Your write really touched on this. Well done-

The flipside of love. I suppose for every chance there is of happiness and contentment, there is a chance of despair and chaos; a dreadful kind of balance that seems to blight so many of life's highs.

As sad as this piece is, it is really well written and expressive.

    Take care.

Thank you Ben!! I too believe that there are two sides to every situation, like a sine wave! And there are times when your graph is always negative!! It was one hell of a dreadful day of my life and everything was slipping out of my hands!! Just didn't know what else to do other than write!!
