and I'm an addict

by Once an Angel   Feb 19, 2017

Slave
to the once wings,
which bore my heavy soul
free.
With feathery rope
they tie a noose tighter
around my will.
They choke the autonomy
once granted,
leaving suffocated submission
and desperate loyalty
to the shackles
laced with poison
that once called I
free.

I like the words you used here to convey how Addiction can change ones life forever.
It's a poison that offers little release for its victim. A good write which I enjoyed reading.
