Song of a drunk poet
By Ziad Dib Jreige
From " The nightingale and his poems of dawn"

Minstrelsy, minstrelsy
Run before me
Run and sing and dance
With chivalry, with romance
The death of chastity!

Minstrelsy, play and bound
Beat your drums strong and loud
A girl has stolen my heart
And run away like a dart
And laughed loud around

Minstrelsy sing, louder sing
Make a pulse for me and ring
For pulseless I've been with no heart
Ever since her depart
Like a kingdom without a king

Minstrelsy, fill my cup more
Keep open the wine door
Forget not to pulse for me
Pulse for me until I see
Upon my head the ground floor
