In the air

by Michael   Mar 2, 2017

A seductive aroma
fills the air.
A scent so enticing
but, wafting a sign
to beware!

It's taste,
an unsavoury desire
follicles expose
a nervous perspire.

A weakness in my
soul it does seek,
a scent with an
undertone of
a stifling reek!

The food, offered
is of a malnourishing
feast
held in the palms
of the alluring
beast!

This parasite which
is deep in
my mind
scratches viciously
at what I
enshrine.

So!...

I will focus my mind
and myself to
address,
and purge the venom
of what is
suppressed!

Close my eyes
and
softly breathe

Allow my senses
to
calmly, retrieve.

A pleasant, taste
and smell,
and bellow out
the stench
of hell!!

The sacred choices,
I am taking.
will guide me,
myself and
be my own
making.

I like the darkness of this, it speaks of instincts and desires yet choices and suppression.

It's what I love about poetry, it can be written as one thing but it means something else to another.

    Fantastic words
