Ben, your words always make me speechless even if I do write a long comment lol. Though this is a free verse and you're not 100% on writing them, you always do a fantastic job and this is no different.
The first stanza is image filled and a wonderful one at that.. I imagine this (please forgive me I couldn't get my brain to think of another word) weak man standing at the edge of this snow covered mountain as a cry for help, for love and then it comes to him and his heart slowly thaws this down the mountain it goes thawing the ice too. I'm letting my imagination run away with me....
Anyway, here it is the love you have been waiting for that thawed your heart, maybe it was her beauty or you looked inside and had a surprise that not all women are b itches lol (I jest) and she waits for you, she loves you and she laps up all the hurting you have been through and you begin to trust her even if little by little until finally she takes all the hurt away by eating it up so to speak and what is love if they cannot take you at your worse?
I am probably way off but hey ho, my interpretation lol..
Firstly, I'd like to simply call you a poetry freak. Ben this is such an inspiring write, LOVE the alliteration here, i find it very powerful and striking when read aloud, the imagery here is awesome too, you can almost feel your temperature drop as you read it, with Her waiting like a huntress for the last of your emotions and feeling to be devoured like a vulture circling.
It's no secret i'm and avid reader of yours and as much as i love your rhyming i love your free verse too so well done Syrup for nominating cause if she didn't then i totally would ( if i had some left hahaha)
"Mountains copiously capped with
veneers of snowy wonderment"...
-Pauses. Takes a moment.-
Whew...forgot to remind myself this is a BEN POEM...so I need to be prepared!
-Takes a deep breath...and starts over.-
My thoughts reflect most of what everyone has already said...so...just...yeah...keep kicking butt and being the amazing writer that you are! This poem is just absolutely lovely and the imagery is breathtaking!
