In between these giants I roam,
sensing the ages in which they’ve grown,
and in the silence, they speak to me,
whispering amongst the rustling leaves.
“ why do they come with axes?” it’s said
“ they want this world to end? to cut off its head?”
“burn us with fire and fill us with dread?”
I lay my hand upon their ancient skin,
“Because they fear change - to change from within”
I’m sorry for what they’ve done to you,
They don’t understand what it is that they do,
They don’t understand that we’re all linked,
They love small bits of paper, covered in ink.
I pray to Gaia, that held in her hands,
Is a race that can grow up and put into plan
the things that we all know to be true,
what’s best for our world, for me and you,
because our forests of green and skies of blue
are not up for sale for apartment views,
and it’s never too late, to start the healing,
never too late, for us to start feeling,
instead of thinking, instead of mistreating,
our mothers on her knees taking a beating.
We are ALL the parts that make up the sum,
don’t turn our skies grey and black out the Sun,
our seas are more toxic than that of last year,
our earth is scorched with acid rain tears,
so I ask you, no beg you, to listen to me,
do what you can, to help our earth breathe.
This is our home, our only one,
unique in the universe, second to none,
and when the earth groans with her final breath,
could we honestly say that we did our best?
to look after her as she takes care of our needs,
will we stay mute of her pain, her cries and her pleades?
Hey Ben can a lady swear well who cares lol...
Fcuking hell this is amazing and beyond, I need my nominations back and I need them now. This is in my faves and will be nominated as soon as I can unless I am beaten to it!!
