Dreams

by Brenda   Mar 21, 2017

I've been dreaming of
castles and kings
and beasties with wings-
Of maidens so fair
with long flowing hair-
Gallant knights upon their steeds
accomplishing great deeds
for their laird and lady
and all their wee babies-
-
Harken and you will hear
the wood nymphs are near
their giggles are light
much to the delight
of whomever
ventures there-
-
Out of the woods
a-stopping, you should do,
for the field's songs call to you,
flowers gently sway,
don't you dare look away,
for you will miss the fairies
as they flit there and about.
It absolutely leaves no doubt
they really do exist-
-
So in my dreams
of castles and kings
my heart always sings-
For in this world
I too can be a maiden fair
and safely venture
into the dragon's lair.
For dreams are just dreams
or so it seems....

Ren, thank you so much. It's funny, I started this write a bit back and stalled and picked it back up and just flowed out. I like having dreams like this too, so much fun.

I think we all dream of this beautiful far away dream where we can
be anything we want and have the luxury of a smiling heart where what
    you wish comes to you...

I liked how you have penned this...its got a happy rhythm that just pulls
    the reader into this read...lovely!

A bit of rhyme and fantasy - how could I possibly help but love this poem, Brenda?
When I was younger, I used to love reading fantasy novels by authors such as Tolkien and Terry Brooks, but now I home school the kids, I seem to be buried in Shakespeare, Twain and Austin the whole time, readying myself for when they're ready to learn it (Although we have done Tom Sawyer).
Anyway, I ramble. This brought back some wonderful memories and sparked my imagination like fantasy always seems to.

    Take care, Brenda

Ben, thank you so much! Myou sister has read and reread the Hobbit series multiple times. I really do like the magical works, it's fun to immerse in them. Tom Sawyer is a good story to read. I remember reading that in school too. Hemingway is another fascinating author. He spent a lot of time in the U.P. fishing and wrote about that, it was neat to connect such a literary giant with our small towns up north.
